Innovative fabrics with USDA, FCS and GRS certifications - ALEXANDRA K

INNOVATIVE FABRICS

PLANT FABRIC - CORN LEATHER

Corn leather has been a staple of the Alexandra K collection for several seasons. We value it for its durability, quality, and appearance. Made from 75% corn pulp, it is a remarkable achievement in sustainable fashion. Most of our materials are produced in Italy by a company with a long tradition of quality. The manufacturer holds numerous certifications, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001, confirming its commitment to sustainability and safety. We are proud to use corn leather in our handbags, jackets, and footwear, and believe it is a powerful example of how fashion can be both stylish and durable.

FABRIC MANUFACTURER CERTIFICATES

USDA

BioVeg products are certified under the U.S. Department of Agriculture's BioPreferred program, which certifies that the organic content is greater than 25% by weight. Measurements conducted by a University of Georgia laboratory have shown that some of our products may contain more than 80% organic matter (ISO 16620-4).

FCS

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certifies the proper management and traceability of the viscose used in our BioVeg products. It guarantees that the product is made from raw materials sourced from forests that adhere to its core standards: ethical forest management and the GRS chain of custody.

A GLOBAL RECYCLING STANDARD

The Global Recycling Standard (GRS) certifies that recycled polyester comes from post-consumer recycling. GRS recognizes the importance of recycling in developing sustainable production and consumption patterns, encouraging resource reduction, and improving the quality of recycled products.
